Evaluations for the 2025/2026 hockey season are just around the corner! This page will be updated throughout evaluations; please check back to make sure you have the most up-to-date information.

Evaluation start dates

  • U-7: Saturday, Sept. 20 (junior and senior*)
  • U-9: Saturday, Sept. 6
  • U-11: Saturday, Sept. 6 (skaters and goalies)
  • U-13: Saturday, Sept. 6 (skaters and goalies)

*There are no evaluations for the U-7 Discovery age category.

NEW for this season, SWAT Hockey is using an app called TeamGenius to assist with evaluations. With the introduction of the TeamGenius app, there will no longer be a full skate list sent out. You will receive your player’s skate time via email approximately one week before evaluations begin. If you haven’t received your player’s skate time by Sept. 1, please contact your child’s age category director. Please note, parents do not need to download the TeamGenius app. 

Evaluation reminders

  • Double check your player’s skate time and arena location well in advance of the evaluation.
  • Have your player dressed and ready to go a minimum of 15 minutes before their start time.
  • Make sure you have all of the necessary hockey equipment for evaluations; full equipment is required for evaluations. Please note mouthguards are not mandatory.
  • If possible, bring your child to the rink to skate before evaluations. This can help get the butterflies out before evaluations begin! Check out City of Edmonton public skate times.
  • Remember your water bottle!
  • Keep it fun. Evaluations should be fun for all of our athletes as having fun now paves the way to a great season of hockey.
