Thank you to everyone who participated in our association naming contest. We were overwhelmed by the response and are excited to officially announce that, beginning with the 2026-27 season, our teams will compete as the SWAT Thunder.

The new name was unveiled on Aug. 8 at the Ice Maker golf tournament, marking the start of an exciting new chapter for our association.

The response from our membership was incredible:

  • We received 162 submissions, representing 116 unique names.
  • More than 80 families participated in the contest.
  • The winning entry, Thunder, was submitted by two families on behalf of four athletes.

Congratulations to the winning families:

  • The Ecklund family will receive free registration for Dean for the 2026-27 season. Elizabeth will receive a SWAT Thunder shirt.
  • The Cook family will receive SWAT Thunder shirts for Caleb and Natalie.

On behalf of the Board, thank you to every family who took the time to submit ideas and help shape the future of our association. Your creativity and enthusiasm made this process a tremendous success.

As a reminder, we are not replacing the existing SWAT shield logo or changing our colours. Instead, “Thunder” will be added as a wordmark that will be used alongside our existing logo on jerseys, apparel, and promotional materials. One of our Board members has already begun working on concepts, and we look forward to unveiling it in the coming weeks.

We are excited for the future of SWAT Thunder and for the opportunity to continue building one strong community for all of our players, coaches, volunteers, and families.
